\nPlante annuelle de 20-50 cm, velue, \u00e0 racine fibreuse ; tiges en touffe, genouill\u00e9es-ascendantes ; feuilles planes, rudes ; \u00e9pi court (2-3 cm), ovale-oblong, non fragile, fauve-jaun\u00e2tre ; \u00e9pillets 3-5, dont 1-2 sup\u00e9rieurs petites st\u00e9riles, et 2-3 inf\u00e9rieurs gros, fertiles, imbriqu\u00e9s, ovales-cylindrac\u00e9s, non brusquement renfl\u00e9s ; munis chacun de 4-7 longues ar\u00eates et 2-3 petites dress\u00e9es-\u00e9tal\u00e9es, \u00e9galant 3-4 cm, lisses \u00e0 la base ; glumes ventrues, \u00e0 3 ou 2 ar\u00eates in\u00e9gales ; glumelles portant 2 ar\u00eates courtes ou une longue et une courte ; 3-4 rudiments st\u00e9riles \u00e0 la base de l’\u00e9pi.<\/p>\n
